Egil Tjåland has an MSc and PhD in geophysics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He has a background as a geophysicist in BP Norway before starting to work at NTNU as an Associate Professor. From 2013-2021 he was Head of Department at the Department of Geoscience and Petroleum at NTNU
Egil is the Secretary-General at the "Norwegian Forum for Marine Minerals".
